Clare TD Says It's "Not Good Enough" As Over €4 Million Spent On Prefabs In The County In Five Years

A Clare TD says it's "not good enough" that children in this county are going to school in prefabs year after year. The Department of Education has revealed that over €4 million was spent on the rental of prefabs and associated land in Clare between 2020 and 2025. It's also confirmed there are 24 rental contracts in place in the county, comprising 22 contracts for prefabs and two for land, serving nine schools in total. Bodyke Fine Gael Deputy Joe Cooney claims many of these structures aren't up to the proper standard.
