Clashing Cultures, Evolving Cinema: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
from Father. Son. Galaxy. A Star Wars Podcast · host Kerwin Yarde
George Lucas and Steven Spielberg decided to take Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the second film of the trilogy, in a different direction from its predecessor. Much like The Empire Strikes Back, Temple of Doom was going to be a much darker film. The production team planned to shoot the film on location in India. The Indian government read the script and denied them access to film in their country. The government found scenes, including a gross-out feast, child slavery, voodoo, and violence imposed on Indian people by a Thuggee cult offensive to their culture. As an alternate, the team moved the production to Sri Lanka. Although Temple of Doom lacks the fun and excitement of Raiders of the Lost Ark, it is still entertaining. We discuss the film, the storyline, the score, the controversy, and the important decision made in 1984 that impacts how movies are made for nearly 40 years.OUR SOCIALS:Twitter: https://twitter.com/FatherSonGalaxyInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/fathersongalaxyFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/FatherSonGalaxyWebsite: https://fathersongalaxy.com/Media Kit: https://fathersongalaxy.com/media-kit-2/Spreadshop (Merchandise) https://fathersongalaxy.myspreadshop.comPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/fathersongalaxy
