Climate Courage: the role of marketing in a sustainable future

from Uncommon Courage · host Andrea T Edwards, Dr David Ko, Richard Busellato, Alexis Eyre, Paul Randle,

Send us Fan MailDoes the marketing profession have an outsized impact on the environmental crisis? And if so, how can marketing change track to play a greater role in building a sustainable future? That’s our focus this week, and we’re going to start with the problem with marketing, going back through history to its present day. We’ll look at its role, the harm it does, and the challenges we face in turning the marketing ship around.  We will look at marketing’s role in behaviour change and consumption habits, greenwashing, and it’s even worse cousin, greenhushing, all the way through to the importance of DEI across the profession, but also in the work delivered. Most importantly, we’ll talk through the sustainable marketing compass and the pillars of sustainable marketing maturity modelling – which is the solution piece to address the challenges, and a path forward for the industry. To help us uncover this fascinating topic, we are absolutely delighted to welcome two guests: Alexis Eyre and Paul Randle. Alexis and Paul are co-authors of the excellent book, Sustainable Marketing: the industry’s role in a sustainable future. Paul is a sustainable marketing professional and a top 100 marketing influencer, and Alexis is also a sustainable marketing expert and a LinkedIn Top Sustainable Marketing Voice. We can’t wait to hear what they have to share. Come and join us on Friday, 14th March 2025 – 3pm Singapore time, and 7am UK time, or listen to the recording afterwards. We livestream to multiple locations, so follow us all on social media. You can buy Sustainable Marketing: The Industry’s Role in a Sustainable Future on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Sustainable-Marketing-Industrys-Role-Future/dp/1398613134/ref=sr_1_1?crid=12B7809QCGNGF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Raze9uaE8CarHyAzj5-PlrWXWr80R10IXhPk6gOd4ibGjHj071QN20LucGBJIEps.-Q8pvZAMT9tcEsDo2xFrmcLip0vr6ENRVjG1PLcboiM&dib_tag=se&keywords=sustainable+marketing+the+industrys+role+in+a+sustainable+future&qid=1741938896&sprefix=sustainable+marketing+the+industrys+role+in+a+sustainable+future%2Caps%2C306&sr=8-1 Climate Courage is a livestream, held every two weeks and is co-hosted by Andrea T Edwards, Dr. David Ko and Richard Busellato. On the show, we cover critical topics across the full spectrum of the polycrisis, in everyday language, and we go big picture on the climate crisis, while also drilling down and focusing on the actions we can all take to be part of the solution. Whether individual action, community action, or national/global action - every single one of us can be part of ensuring a live-able future for our children and grandchildren.
