Dr. Kelly is a board certified ophthalmologist at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. She completed her medical school at Harvard Medical School, ophthalmology residency at Stanford University, received a Masters of Education from Johns Hopkins School of Education, and completed a fellowship in corneal transplantation at Harvard University's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She is also  the director of Advancing Inclusion in Medical Education at the University of Cincinnati College of medicine, serves as course director for the Physician and Society 201 and 202 courses, and is the director of medical student education in ophthalmology.Join us as we dive into the definition and origin of the term "microaggression", describe how these develop in the workplace and the clinic, and identify the deleterious effects that these aggressions have on women and URM (e.g. exacerbating imposter syndrome). Dr. Kelly also describes the discrete, subtle forms that these aggressions take (micro-assaults, micro-insults, and micro-invalidations), and provides key insight and advice as to how victims can navigate these aggressions in effective and constructive ways.
