Cllr Higgins calls for affordable transgender healthcare

A Labour Party Councillor in Sligo has called for young vulnerable trans people to be afforded compassionate, and timely healthcare.Cllr Ann Higgins says gender affirming care should be provided in primary care settings with a focus on GP-led care.The party tabled a motion in the Dáil yesterday calling for the enactment of a new National Clinical Programme for trans healthcare in Ireland, with integrated care pathways.The Sligo based Councillor says many transgender people are being forced to travel to Dublin for treatment that should be available in the North West.
