Close Pine Gap, Sacred Land Back

Today we continue reporting on the 'Close Pine Gap - Sacred Land Back Convergence', held on Arrernte Country in Alice Springs from 17-20 July. Kuyunba is the Arrernte name for the sacred ancestral land occupied by the joint Australian-US military intelligence facility of Pine Gap near Alice Springs. The Hayes family are the custodians for the site that was taken without consent 60 years ago.  Following a weekend of talks and workshops the gathering culminated in the 600 strong convergence supporting the Hayes family to hand over a letter demanding the closure of Pine Gap, land back and compensation for 60 years of loss of access and damages to their sacred site, culture and community.You can sign the petition supporting the Hayes family demands here.
