Closer Than Your Next Breath

It started with a childhood breath holding contest and ended with one of the most profound theological discoveries of my faith journey. In this episode we follow a winding road from Eastern religion breathing exercises practiced one thousand times a day in pursuit of nirvana, to a quiet Holy Hour where the Holy Spirit meets me in the stillness between my own breaths. The Comforter Jesus promised is not a distant presence waiting to be summoned. He is closer than your next breath, dwelling in you, abiding with you, from here to Kingdom come. And when we finally understand that we are temples of the living God, something shifts. We start to see the holiness in each other. And in doing so we draw a little bit of Heaven into this broken world. Just breathe. He is already there.
