Clothe Yourselves With Humility

What are you wearing? Your favourite crazy Christmas sweater? How about something cozy? Or maybe you are tired of slumming it and have finally decided to wear pants that don’t have an elastic waistband or drawstring? It’s finally time to pull out some of your more formal attire. My family can attest that I’m hard to shop for because I don’t like buying clothes. In fact, when I get some new apparel item, I wear it over and over and over again. Clothes can be the focus of our lives. They may make a statement, help us to show off or try to cover up our shame. Remember, we came into this world naked and then through the loss of innocence we realize as our first parents did, Adam & Eve, that we are naked and sinful. Thank the Lord that God sent Jesus to wrap us with His righteousness. And now we are to clothe ourselves in something new - humility as 1 Peter 5:5 tells us. As we will explore this Sunday, clothing ourselves with humility, may I challenge you as you wake up each morning and you try to decide what to wear. Put on humility first!
