"Clout Chaser"

from CLIFTON · host CLIFTON

record / beef beat / theskybeats lyrics / “Ay, ay I know how much I know how much you love to chase I made this for us Ooo I know how much you love to chase I had to do just one Just one I ain’t ever tried to chase clout, just had a rain cloud above me I’m just trying to stay up, stay out, stay above the ugly Some things I can’t forgive or forget, but I’m doing my best Keeping on mission and playing it close to chest You know I won’t ever give in [x2] I’m a cold one, ain’t a code word to summarize my book But you know I keep it open, and write boldly If you’re trying to get with the program No hold ups, no reloading I’m always giving you the ammo Respect to the soldiers in camo These wars will always be canon But in the homeland, most of these people don’t know how to can it Bosses are barely managing Maybe I’m slow, is this what outstanding really is? Trapping out the bando, and investing in other peoples’ business I try to force a smile and talk to God and hope the feeling is residual I’ve always been religious, praying for the big guy to listen Doing bitches’ dishes and smoking up fake friends I have a lot of wounds that need healing Some are still fresh, none the less I’ve been dealing since the beginning And I always come out a stronger man I ain’t ever tried to chase clout, just had a rain cloud above me I’m just trying to stay up, stay out, stay above the ugly Some things I can’t forgive or forget, but I’m doing my best Keeping on mission and playing it close to chest You know I won’t ever give in [x2] I highly recommend coming up with your own thing If you want a sense of commitment to your own self and independence So, even when you’re lonely, you can feel wholesome Like you know something they don’t Now go ahead and take it home once Give em some homework and make em grow up You’ll see what you did and start glowing from the deepest, darkest part of the corner And all that evil will need a coroner Imagine yourself on a tour bus Eating with folks, familiar and foreign Everything on your plate that you ordered up Now don’t be afraid to cause a little disorder When the doctor already diagnosed you Make sure to record something too Don’t turn your life to a porno or give up on the glory, ever Whether you’re out east or in California Don’t let em tell you, you gotta be paid to be great at something Because if that was the way Why are random people discovering talent every single day? Making it certainly ain’t what it used to be That’s part of why I founded Basement Made I ain’t ever tried to chase clout, just had a rain cloud above me I’m just trying to stay up, stay out, stay above the ugly Some things I can’t forgive or forget, but I’m doing my best Keeping on mission and playing it close to chest You know I won’t ever give in [x2] You know how when rich people get mad or sad about insignificant shit to working people? Because they didn’t earn it. So just know, chasing clout, which if I would’ve done, I would’ve been dead a long time ago. But, ya know, chasing clout will get you that hollow success. They should be the happiest people in the world. The most privilege people, ya know, in the most privileged socioeconomic status, but they’re just empty.”
