We want to welcome Mitch Dryer to the Co-Movement Gym Podcast. Mitch graduated from the Louis Garland Fire Academy in San Angelo, TX in 2004 and worked as a Fire Protection Specialist as a member of the New York State Air National Guard, in Syracuse, N.Y. In 2005 he was hired by the City of Oneida Fire Department, as a Firefighter and EMT. In 2006 he was deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the Air National Guard. Mitch sustained career ending injuries in 2007, when fighting an intense fire, the roof of a bowling alley collapsed leaving him burning and trapped under debris for 20 minutes. Mitch was forced to retire in 2009 due to the injuries sustained while on duty. Since his retirement Mitch has volunteered to be a peer supporter for the Phoenix Society for Burns Survivors and was a counselor at the International Association of Fire Fighters National Burn Camp. He has also completed the Washington, D.C. FireFighter Burn Foundation’s Burn Awareness Program. Mitch has been a presenter at the Fire Department Instructors Conference, with the Burn Prevention Network, the American Burn Association, the New York State Fire Chiefs Association and gave the Keynote Address to the 2014 graduating class of the Utica Fire Academy. Mitch is a six-year resident of Crested Butte Colorado along with his wife Aimee and their twins Daniel and Emeri. They enjoy skiing, hiking and climbing together. Mitch also volunteers with the Adaptive Sports Center, is a jiu jitsu student, bow hunter and avid fitness enthusiast. Mitch we want to welcome you to the A is A Health Podcast!
