CO2, Environment, Plastics: What we Know (Thinking Things Through)
from ThinkTech Hawaii · host Jay Fidell
What the Media Don’t Want You to Know. The host for this show is Michael Sukhov. The guest is Steve Macek. In the context of the current COP 27 Climate Change Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, we discuss the ongoing global disparity in carbon emissions between the nations of the so-called global North and global South, with specific reference to the millions of dollars in subsidies that governments and corporate entities are providing to subsidize the production and use of fossil fuels. Based upon research by Project Censored and others, the owners and managers of some corporate mass media outlets also have personal connections with the fossil fuel industry, a fact that has being significantly under-reported by those very same media outlets. We also discuss research on the increasing presence of microplastics worldwide, in seafood, and in our bodies, and in the lungs of lung cancer patients.
