coach Holberg with his 480th victory in his senior women's basketball career in a 600th game coach you come in the morning side into hostile territory and your team dominated for the first three quarters. What was that feeling like and especially after the lackluster second half with low energy what was it like seeing you care come out and just explode in the first half with 18. Let me start with that I look back yesterday and I don't know if we had a little energy it's very hard to score if you don't have the basketball looking back at the tape from yesterday and they couldn't get a shot off. So as a result of not getting a shot off they spent a lot more time on offense than we spent less time on defense you know they were throwing the ball around the pass of the ball they couldn't get a shot off they couldn't get a shot off it was almost like a stall well that was last night you know I think that you know I don't have to doubt nothing about them I think it's just all your long with the energy level sometimes it'll make their shots sometimes we'll do something wrong but I've never had a worry about these guys and I told them that several times of practice I never had a worry about them coming ready to play.

They mean that look like because you go out there you go over six or the other team gets a 10-4 lead on you oh god I'm ready to play tonight you know we are ready to play just sometimes the ball doesn't go in I've very seldom all your long have false faulted or intensity level I think they can out consistently with a lot of energy sometimes the results aren't there but I I'm proud of the fact that they always play hard talking about energy coach they came out with so much energy a lot of them got into some foul trouble tonight especially kara kroliki who I just talked to about that before talking to you right now so what was going through your mind when you saw the kara kroliki had four fouls on her did you think oh she has this under control or did you think maybe I should tell her to ease up a little bit well I was worried about Kara I was worried about Brittany in the first half I'm pretty scored but twenty some points tonight and 18 rebounds and she only played about three quarters of a game because she got the two just like that so that worried more than anything without Brittany in the lineup and then Chanel had four so we had a six Chanel out but anytime Kara is involved but one thing about Kara is over four years she knows how to play with four she very seldom follows out now sometimes the other team takes advantage of that they drove around for brass kits under several times occurred out of sight no one that she couldn't have heard of fallout and you know rather than stopping her by following somebody she had to give up the layup but she she's one player but those this has happened so many times over four years I always tell players you have to learn to play with four fouls you have to learn to play before you can't do something dumb to get the fifth one and she's played with four fouls a lot over her career. About halfway through the third quarter we saw morning start to go up to a press we saw them continue that throughout the game and from that moment on we saw the cuters you know get lose a little bit of energy because they're running up the court trying to break the press and then they are dealing with 20 seconds of the shot clock rather than about 30 when you have the time to bring up the ball knowing that Hastings comes from that GPAC roots you know Concordia does it morning set show that they have the ability to do it Hastings also has the ability to press are you worried about the press especially with what happened against Concordia back in December. Well I don't like the press to take away and I worry about Concordia in the championship game but one of the things you don't want the press to do is take your nose to the basket away you know you got to shove it down the throat I thought we became we got to the point where we just wanted to break the press and not throw the ball away. When somebody presses you're supposed to make them pay the price for that you're supposed to come right down and run it to a wide open tree or run it to the basket.

Now what changes is with a big lead in somebody pressing you where you don't the clock becomes very important. I thought we got a little bit too conservative sometimes and not too much clock run out but in one time we grew up a ridiculous shot and other time I think we didn't even get a shot off with the clock went off so we've got to better do a job of building the clock but getting a shot off at the end. Coach tomorrow is another day and this is going to be the third day in the row that the girls play how are they going to recuperate from these past two games. Unfortunately we got the early game tomorrow eight o'clock so I caught that's the end coach.

That's the end coach. That's the end coach. That's true. That's true.

I call him the locker room. That's why we got the early game tomorrow. So we should get started at eight with games running on schedule at eight teams left now. And if you can't come out and play with energy at this time of the year but you've got care and timely and really one bad game and you're on the bus and your career is over.

The other kids got another year to come back and do something but there's no reason why you can't come out. That's why I've never been a fanatic on shoot-around or pressing on the day of the game. I told those important things but this team is rest. I'm not going to get them up at 10 o'clock in the morning and go out and practice it.

If they don't know how to shoot by now they never know how to shoot. But the most important thing is keep them in bed tomorrow and let them rest until they prepare for eight o'clock p.m. I thought you were going with a little bit of a joke. I thought a joke at this time.

It's just trying to play along. At my age I normally miss the nine o'clock news. I miss the ten o'clock news. So I'm up way beyond my bedtime these games.

Final question for your coach. Six hundred games for you so far as for St. Taver. And this win gives you the first ever appearances in back-to-back quarterfinal.

Quarterfinal appearances in the NA tournament. We know you don't want to stop at the quarterfinals but looking back at the past 18 years taking this team from the ground up. How special has this been in your career especially with your trips at Chicago State, your trips at UIC especially, your early trip at St. Taver.

How special is this team band in this program? Well this is why I keep doing this. I go out to lunch with a bunch of my friends and I say I got to leave. I got to go back to practice.

What are you guys going to do the rest of the day? And they all answered you and said we're going to take a nap. Well that sounds like a lot of fun. I'd rather be coaching.

It's very special because I go back to the bones about it. I enjoy winning. I love winning. It's not whether you're winning or losing time you play the game.

Then why do you keep scoring? I take a lot of enjoyment out of winning basketball. If I started out with my career with a lot of losses I would enjoy the insurance business with my brothers have been rich. I took coaching over Rich though.

I lose a game sometimes I think I made a bad decision. For the most part I've enjoyed all 600 a day. Basically what I enjoy is the players. I just enjoy just such nice kids to coach.

Coach you got 20 more wins until 500 here at St. Taver on the women's side and then you have 35 more wins until 1000 in your career. So you have definitely done the winning throughout your career. 35.

I'm going to have to wait until next year on that one. Yeah but I mean you got three more than you went to one 32 more games. That's good. That would make it better.

And you just got your 30 second win today. Congratulations on the win against the morning side and we will see you tomorrow for Hastings. Thank you very much and we'll be broadcasting on Tuesday. People will be broadcasting on Tuesday at guarantee from coach Auburn.
