Coaches Corner: Principles are few, methods are many
from Live Train Perform · host Shaun Kober
I've had so many great conversations with friends and colleagues about what we see happening in the fitness industry, and thought to myself, "I wish we would have recorded that." ...So that's exactly what the Coaches Corner is about. In this conversation I had with Jon Le Tocq of Storm Force Fitness, we discuss how most people that are spruiking specific methods of training or ways of eating, are typically trying to sell you something. Most great coaches are going to teach you the principles of progress, and guide you towards your own answers and methods that align with those principles, but allow you to choose the right tool for the job in your own individual circumstances. We also dive into the impact that social media has on shaping what people think they need to do in order to get the results they want.Social media is a highlight reel. It doesn't show the countless hours, discipline, and hard work put into the fundamentals over years and years of being consistent at the basics. What you see high level athletes doing now, is not what got those high level athletes to that point. Master the basics of movement, and it will open up many other options. Please note that the original conversation went for about 90 minutes, so I recommend listening to the entirety of the conversation to understand the full context, as there is some crossover between the topics we cover...which will be/have been dropped as separate episodes.
