In which a young lady arriving in the bustling chaos of New York City finds refuge in the quiet sanctuary of a ladies’ waiting-room, where the kindly janitress imparts kindly wisdom born of many watching and waiting souls. At last joined by her acquaintance Ludlow, she grapples with feelings of embarrassment and a wistful desire to be recognised as changed since their last encounter.
