Coats for kids campaign and a shelter update from the La Crosse Salvation Army's Jeff Russell

An update on the shelter and an ongoing campaign called Coats for Kids with the Salvation Army’s Jeff Russell A Coats for Kids campaign taught us there are 27 Kwik Trips in La Crosse County, as Major Jeff Russell from the Salvation Army of La Crosse joins. We talked about that, plus an update on the shelter on Wednesday’s La Crosse Talk. Russell explains some of the things they do at the shelter, but also how they’re trying to expand for the next 18 months as part of the Pathways Home plan in La Crosse to end homelessness in the city. Russell says they are converting their chapel to bed space, but are still working on approval for the move. We also discussed the Salvation Army of La Crosse’s winter coat donation campaign running now through Oct. 3, where people can drop new or gently used coats off at any Kwik Trip location in La Crosse County. Those coats will then be distributed to families in need at the Salvation Army’s warehouse (map) on Oct. 10, 17 and 24.
