Coffee & Geography 4x12 Regan Mudhar (UK)

from Coffee & Geography

Kit Marie and Regan Mudhar chat about the power of music to evoke emotion, diversity and inclusion initiatives at the Royal Meteorological Society, PhD research into how Arctic warming is changing weather patterns and more! After doing an MSci in physics with astrophysics in Bristol, Regan worked in finance for a couple of years. But they returned to academia in 2021, looking at the so-called “stratospheric pathway” and its far-flung influences on mid-latitude climate and weather extremes for their PhD. When Regan is not sitting behind a laptop, you can find them sharing science with the public around Exeter and beyond – including supporting the RMetS as their science engagement fellow for youth and early careers since June 2023. Some links to things mentioned in the chat:-RMetS Youth & Early Career Special Interest Group (https://www.rmets.org/special-interest-groups/youth-and-early-career) -Diverse Voices RMetS Series (https://www.rmets.org/events/all?keys=Diverse+Voices) -Biffy Clyro (band) (https://www.biffyclyro.com/) -Sudden Stratospheric Warming – Met Office video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnlFFaF_l7I)-14-year-old scientist Heman Bekele on his quest to fight skin cancer with soap (https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/14-year-old-scientist-heman-bekele-on-his-quest-to-fight-skin-cancer-with-soap)Expand your geography network and connect with Regan via LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/regan-m-620696219/) or the University of Exeter (https://mathematics.exeter.ac.uk/people/profile/index.php?web_id=rm811) =About Coffee & Geography==The aim of ‘Coffee & Geography’ is to get to know, explore and celebrate the diverse & intersectional range of people and their love for the world.
