MozartBeats - The first "Classical" classical music NFT

    Release Date: 11/04/2021

Description: https://3speak.tv/watch?v=robertdouglass/augvsemb NFTs are starting to make a big impact in the music world, and that includes classical music. I interview Francisco Supin and Baher al Hakim, the creators of MozartBeats, an NFT project on Async.art which I found compelling enough to actually invest in. MozartBeats is a recording of Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik which contains 625 combinations for how it might actually sound when played. It was recorded by a top Viennese string quartet, and will change the way you think about this piece, and what a classical music project looks like. The project has raised over $60,000 in sales and the main NFT, which is still for sale, has a list price of 45 ETH (over $200,000 at current valuations). We discuss how music NFTs are structured on Async.art, which is a very special concept that centers on "programmable music", and ensuring that the actual music generated by the NFT changes over time. This is done by breaking down an NFT into "Stems", which are collections of variations of one voice, "Masters", which is the overarching NFT seen as a whole, and "Recordings", which are snapshots of the NFT at a moment in time. We also discuss how the NFT was made, and why it is significant to the classical music industry.
