Cold: 3 Winters at the South Pole. UFO? - Wayne White

from Wendy's Coffeehouse Curious · host Wendy's Coffeehouse

"Had we lived, I should have had a tale to tell of the hardihood, endurance, and courage of my companions which would have stirred the heart of every Englishman. These rough notes and our dead bodies must tell the tale, but surely, surely, a great rich country like ours will see that those who are dependent on us are properly provided for.” - Robert Falcon Scott, Last Expedition Volume 2The reality of existing in the South Pole? Conditions are not conducive to living without extraordinary measures of physical protection. Explorers who braved that environment prior to any human presence had no such luxury. Wayne White - Cold: Three Winters at the South Pole, Amazon. Tracing the path of men he admired, Wayne has achieved what few have. Completion of 3 Winters (and 2 Summers) at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. Fun fact: that job experience makes him uniquely qualified to speak to the challenges that long term space travel might present. Amazon Bio: Hello Folks, I am a US Marine Veteran. I spent two summers and three winters as the Winter Site Manager at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. I have a major interest in historical exploration and have a home in Rockport Texas. I have a very kind hearted wife (Melissa) and due to that have 20 cats!  Summary edit: As the winter site manager of the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica, White was responsible for the selection, training, and health and safety of the forty-two- and forty-six-person crews. Few people on the planet can say they know what it feels like to walk in the unworldly, frigid winter darkness at the South Pole, but Wayne L. White can—having walked several thousand miles and never missing a day outside during his stay, regardless of the conditions.Amazon Reader Review: "This book is riveting, you will not want to put it down. I had no idea what it would be like to live and work at the South Pole. I also had no idea that I would want to know but as soon as I started reading COLD, I was hooked." Off the beaten path .... Wayne has managed to safely negotiate his way out of situations that many would consider dangerous. Danger due to the intense physical requirements of the terrain - and/or the disposition of the people he would encounter.  While at the South Pole, he mentions the UFO he [almost] saw... He also says someone asked him to tell him about the -- my phrasing "secret UFO base and stuff" going on there. We get into that in the second segment of the interview. Add paranormal, spooky and top that with an extreme oddity - a very unusual and curiously 'special' rock.   Connect with Wayne on Facebook: Link.Speaking about his book at the Adventurers Club of Los Angeles.  YouTube Link.*People have died there ... I forgot to ask if the space had any resident ghosts...Related blog post = https://talkingtonightlights.wordpress.com/2022/10/12/adventures-extreme-and-otherwise/Amazon book links are my affiliate links.
