Collars and Harnesses, Equipment Part 1 with Renee Rhoades

from Enlightened Pet Behavior Podcast · host Susan Light

Don’t know the difference between types of collars and harnesses? I’ve got you covered!  Avoid injury, set your dog up for success, and keep your dog safe by choosing the right equipment. Renee Rhoades at R+Dogs is a qualified & certified virtual canine behaviour consultant specialising in reactivity, aggression and general fears/phobias. R+Dogs is committed to reward-based methods rooted in ethics and positive welfare. Renee's adoration for dogs began early in life. In her teens she started volunteering in shelters before going on to become a certified veterinary technician. While working in the veterinary industry Renee realized that she had a passion for understanding dog behavior so she decided to pursue it. In 2018, Renee opened her business R+ Dogs with great local success until COVID forced her to re-strategize the way that she was able to help dog guardians. Now for the last 2 years, Renee has almost exclusively been offering her expertise and guidance in the form of virtual consultations to dog guardians around the world. She has not come across any behavior concern that cannot be improved via working virtually. As Renee loves to say that she works for positive change for both ends of the leash because the only way to give our dogs the best life possible is by understanding them first. Continued education is very important to Renee and she dedicates herself to hundreds of hours each year on improving her knowledge and skills. This year Renee is due to graduate from her Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law Masters degree along along with taking several other further education opportunities such as becoming a Certified Family Dog Mediator.
