College Football Week 0, The NCAA Is A Joke, QB Updates Around The Country

from The 10 Second Runoff · host Culture Media

College Football is entirely back is week 0 is upon us! We'll get our first look at Sam Hartman and The Notre Dame Fighting Irish as they take on The Navy Midshipmen, in Ireland, while USC takes on San Jose State back in the United States. Vanderbilt goes head to head with Hawaii in their first chance at finding a win in the 2023 College Football Season, as they 4 wins and the over, on their pre-season win total. Other College Football Teams playing in week 0 are listed as below: UTEP at Jacksonville State FIU at Louisiana Tech UMass at New Mexico State Ohio at San Diego State In news around the country, the NCAA royally screws over LSU's preseason All-American DL, Maason Smith, as they suspend him for one game against Florida State in the season opener, due to an improper benefit. His infraction was taking a given dollar amount as payment for an autograph signing before NIL was completely legalized. Granted, yes, there was an infraction committed, and though we don't think this was a reasonable rule, it was still rule and their should be uniform consequences for it across the board. The problem is, the consequences weren't uniform when it comes to the star defensive lineman. Unfortunately for Smith, he tore his ACL in the early stages of LSU's week 1 matchup in 2022, so while other players who were popped for the same infraction served their suspension in any game of their choosing, Maason Smith didn't play another snap for the remainder of the season due to injury. Leave it to the NCAA, the mighty protector and caregiver of student athletes, to step in and say that Maason Smith could no longer serve a suspension in a game of his choosing, since he failed to serve his suspension in 2022, regardless of the fact that he played 8 snaps total due to injury. I digress. Moving on to the rest of the nation, Cade McNamara's return to the starting rotation has an unclear path forward as he continues to recover from an injury sustained in a fall camp scrimmage, and could cause serious issues in an already questionable Iowa Hawkeye offense. Jaden Rashada is named the starting Quarterback at Arizona St after his wild recruiting roller coaster during the signing period. Ole Miss and Alabama still are without a starting quarterback to be named by their head coaches, although we expect Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe to step into those roles, respectively. Now that the season is upon us, it's time to bet on College Football so we threw together a parlay with alternate spreads favoring Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and USC that you we feel 100% comfortable calling a lock for Week 0. Lastly, one final look at a projected playoff situation. One twitter user projected a playoff picture of Alabama, Penn State, USC, and Florida State; we give our take and opine on the topic on the newest edition of The 10 Second Runoff.
