Colombian Elections 2022 Series - Part 4 (Latin American Directions)
from ThinkTech Hawaii · host Jay Fidell
Overly or Rightfully Afraid. The host for this show is Jay Fidell. The guest is Juan Pablo Tello. On Sunday June 19, 2022, the Colombians elected for the first time in history a left-sided government led by Gustavo Petro, former Bogota mayor and demobilized rebel member, and Francia Márquez, a Black feminist and environmental social leader. Petro has been seen with serious distrust from the right of the political spectrum, and many concerns were stated before the election day and after Petro's victory. In this episode, Juan Pablo Tello discusses with Jay Fidell the causes of these concerns, what they were, if they proved to be true after the election and recent cabinet appointments, and what the perspective is for the future that the right of the political spectrum sees for Colombia and the region with this new government.
