Color Speak, Episode 33, Why Jesus Likes Boundaries, with the Always Real Emily

from Color Speak: Unveiling Truth for Light · host J. M. Huxley

Light is where you’ll find truth; truth is where you’ll find color.Color is where you’ll find God.Color is God. It’s his love for you.Color testifies to his everlasting goodness in myriad ways.Color speaks of God’s attributes, always good. So, which comes to mind for you?Limitless? Unchanging? Omnipotent? Loving? How about preemptive? Proactive? Boundary-setting?Because you won’t find passive on the list of our Creator’s attributes! He gives us parameters to live by and shows us how to incorporate the ideology behind these guidelines into our lives. For us humans, a mention of the word "boundaries" can touch a nerve. For some, the term is antithetical, what fencing was to early cowboys on a cattle drive. For others, it's the seat belt that keeps them strapped in and safe for a cross country drive. Regardless of individual perspective, our God is a God of boundaries.Jesus set boundaries. And he wants us to set our own.Today, we’re going to talk boundaries. For this I've asked my daughter Emily back because she's always real. Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of scripture to back up our discussion. And no guilt.***Emily is a graphic and interior designer, artist, and Bible scholar. (And I love this photo of her on a swing above our hometown, San Diego recently--which is why I also use a photo of me on Mt. Soledad in San Diego, taken by my daughter Grace in March of this year.:-))The book we referenced is SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE: How to be an Assertive Christian by Ruth N. Koch & Kenneth C. Haugk.Verse references include John 18:19-23; Matthew 21:12-14 ; Matthew 26:33-34; Matthew 19: 13; Luke 4:28-30; John 8:58-59; and Revelation 3:19—“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.”What we say here is not in conflict with our core values, as summed up this way:"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." (Philippians 2:3- NKJV) J.M. Huxley (Janet Huxley) is an award-winning author and broadcast news anchor. Currently, she is a morning news anchor for conservative radio; formerly,  an airborne traffic and news reporter and the operations director for the San Diego and Kansas City offices of Westwood One’s Metro Networks.  Her recently released, speculative novel, entitled COLOR for CANVAS is already a best-seller. Her memoir, MILK AND HONEY LAND: A Story of Grief, Grace, and Goats, won the 2019 Author Academy Award for Best Memoir, and the 2021 Readers' Favorite Gold Medal Winner in the Christian - Non-Fiction genre.
