Summary
That's right: I said Colorado rye whiskey! One of the most exciting developments in American whiskey making was the recent rediscovery of a forgotten part of our past: the three chamber still. It's completely unlike any other type of still, and it was used by most American rye distillers as recently as 110 years ago. Then it disappeared. But it's back, and I got an interview with the man who revived it, Todd Leopold. I also got a sample of the brand-new 6 year old three chamber rye from Leopold Bros. distillery, and sampled it live with two Penns Valley regulars, Dave Dreese and Rich Gallup. What else? Brewpubs, cocktails, whisky, and great eats on our drive to Denver; reports from the Yorkholo Brewing Carnival of Stouts, and the Hartslog Heritage Festival, and some really big news... The next episode drops in a week! We're doing our first bonus episode, and you'll get the second half of the Todd Leopold interview (with a lot of talk about Maryland rye whiskey, and what Todd's doing next), Kansas City barbecue, some shoreside fun from Cape Charles, VA, and then... Another episode the following week! Get ready for a big Thanksgiving episode, with turkey, pies, drinks, and visits from everyone I interviewed over the past year. It's going to be great!
