Colossians 1
from Riverside Reading Plan Hosted by Riverside Church
Paul's thanksgiving for the Colossians' faith, love, and hope emphasizes how the gospel bears fruit and increases throughout the world, not just in their local community. The magnificent Christ hymn presents Jesus as the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, and the one in whom all things hold together, establishing His supremacy over every power or philosophy. Paul's description of his ministry to make the word of God fully known includes his suffering for the church and his goal of presenting everyone mature in Christ.
