What this episode covers
This week’s Come Follow Me for Teens episode focuses on 1 Samuel 17–26 and 2 Samuel 5–7: “The Battle Is the Lord’s.” In these chapters, we study three powerful lessons that can help teens face fear, recognize true friendship, and trust the Lord’s order: David facing Goliath with faith in the living God, Jonathan showing what it means to be a true friend, and Uzzah reaching out to steady the ark of the covenant. David and Goliath teaches us that courage does not come from pretending our challenges are small. It comes from remembering that God is greater. David remembered how the Lord had delivered him before, trusted that the battle belonged to the Lord, and moved forward in faith. Jonathan and David’s friendship teaches teens the marks of a true friend. Jonathan loved without jealousy, protected David, spoke good of him when he was not present, and helped strengthen his faith. His example reminds us that the friends we choose — and the kind of friend we become — can deeply shape our discipleship. The story of Uzzah and the ark teaches an important lesson about sacred things, priesthood order, stewardship, and trusting the Lord to direct His own work. Faithful questions are part of discipleship, but steadying the ark happens when concern turns into control and we assume authority the Lord has not given us. This episode invites teens to ask: What “Goliath” do I need to face with faith? Are my friendships helping me come closer to Christ? Do I trust the Lord enough to serve faithfully within the stewardship He has given me? The message of these chapters is deeply relevant for teens today: God can help us face our battles, true friends can strengthen our faith, and there is spiritual safety in trusting the Lord’s order.
