Come Forth and Go Forth

from St Mark Sermons · host St Mark Coptic Orthodox Church

In this sermon Fr Thomas Hanna reflects on the raising of Lazarus through three invitations: come forth, be unbound, and go forth. We come to the liturgy carrying the weight of sin, seeking new life and deeper union with Christ through repentance. As we receive His grace, we are gradually freed from the "grave clothes" of sin, growing in holiness one step at a time. Finally, we are sent out to witness to Christ by living what we have received—showing mercy, offering forgiveness, and carrying His presence into the world. The question is not simply whether we attended the liturgy, but whether others can see that we did.
