Lawson — co-founders of Comedy Gives Back, the real safety net that catches stand-up comics when life gets rough. They’re gearing up for next week’s annual 818 Benefit: Brody Stevens Festival of Friendship Show at The Comedy Store in West Hollywood, raising serious money for comedians in crisis. Zoe’s dad was the late great Budd Friedman, the godfather of modern comedy clubs who founded The Improv (now 23 locations), discovered Adam Sandler, and managed Jay Leno. Speaking of which… who’s that calling in?   The duo breaks down how medical insurance and SAG-AFTRA work for comics living paycheck to paycheck, and how their nonprofit steps in for mental health and financial help.
