The good news of Jesus Christ’s birth was not first given to the religious leaders of the day. God saw fit to announce the birth of the Messiah to humble, hard-working, receptive shepherds. Mothers in that day did not dream of their sons growing up and becoming shepherds. It was not a notable profession! However, it was to these socially disregarded individuals that God announced the good news of comfort and joy the night Jesus was born.
