Hello, good morning everyone! Today's topic is comfort is good, but getting out of comfort is better. And the subtopic is you need intrinsic motivation. This article was published in medium.com publications and the sub-publication is midform, M-I-D-F-O-M.
Hello my lovely readers, I'm committing to doing a 12 week home workout program, version 1.0 by Heather Robertson, observing my body emotions and mind in writing about the life lessons learned. In case you missed it, you can read life lessons learned and takeaways from week 1 to week 4. And I also recorded the podcast episode, please check it out in my podcast. In the article titled, Valuing Your Monday Jures, inspires.
And from the week 5 to week 7, in the article titled, How is, this is how I build my growth mindset. So week 8, day 1 title was, What Do Dumbles Do to Spark Curiosity. Week 8, day 2 title was, Changing Intentions Can Be Like A Rocking Boot And Builds Grid. So you can read these articles in medium publications.
You can also listen to the podcast episodes. You have to go search for them. Memory Chogger exercises for the week 8, day 3. Back lunch, squat, curtsy lunch, broad jump, deadlift, side to side hop, squat and jump.
Today, the following introductory statements made by Heather sparked my attention. Hey guys, push yourself out of your comfort zone, but listen to your body and stay in the form. Listen to your body and stay in the form. How did that transfer into my workout today?
Or how did that show up in the workout today? In today's workout, where I did push myself out of my comfort zone and stayed in my form. Where did I do that? On my previous, during my previous days, I was using both 3 pounds and 5 pound dumbbell, depending upon the type of exercises such as squats, lunges, upper body toning, lower body exercises, jumping and hopping.
I was only using 3 pound dumbbells for jumping and hopping exercises. Today, I found myself using 5 pound dumbbells for all the jumping and hopping exercises, demonstrating that I was getting out of my comfort zone. As for staying in my form, because that is another phrase Heather had mentioned, make sure you listen to your body and stay in your form. So as for staying in my form, I realized that while jumping and hopping with the increased weights, I was able to stay connected to my core, to my core, with a clean flow of breath.
Even though I was feeling the resistance with the increase in weights for the jumping exercises, I did not feel that I'm irresponsible with my body, with any strain or pull. I was listening to my body. Does that make sense? I guess that it is what Heather meant by saying stay in the form, because sometimes what happens is we get too excited and start off with 5 pounds, 7 pounds, whatever.
So I did want to get out of the comfort zone. Because jumping exercises using 5 pounds, it can be an especially for me above 60. It can be a little challenging and for a person like me, who is not very adventurous, it does matter a lot. So I was staying in the form and I was getting out of my comfort zone and I was listening to my body.
As I found the following wonderful quote, describing comfort zone, the quote is, real change is difficult at the beginning, but gorgeous at the end. Change begins the moment you get the courage and step outside your comfort zone. Change begins at the end of your comfort zone by Roy Bennett. The key message is, it is completely okay to create a habit, get comfortable and be in your comfort zone, it's completely okay.
At the same time, it is beneficial to challenge and get yourself out of your comfort zone when your skills are underutilized.
