Many MLS fans are still trying to figure out how to process a two month long break in the middle of the season.  Most NYCFC fans had high expectations for this past week.  A chance to advance to the semi-finals of the US Open Cup.  A chance to change the narrative that the club never took the competition seriously.  Pascal Jansen previously had said himself that the tournament was a great way to win a trophy.  But after conceding the lone goal of the match in the 59th minute, NYCFC appeared to clean house and rest players for the next MLS match. If some NYCFC fans were not sure how to feel about the break, the last two matches will make you want to forget about the club for a while.
