Coming To UTC: Dr. Art Laffer On “Taxes Have Consequences”

Dr. Art Laffer(Laffer Associates)Once upon a time - we’re talking the 1980’s - there was a Hollywood movie about a teenager who took the day off from school.While Ferris Bueller, his girlfriend and his best friend jumped from one adventure to another, his econ teacher - played by Ben Stein - tried to explain a contemporary concept to his classmates: The Laffer Curve.The chalkboard may be a throwback to the classrooms of the last century - but the tax theory of Dr. Art Laffer impacts economics and politics to this day.On Thursday, Dr. Laffer visits our campus - the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.His talk - “Taxes Have Consequences: An Income Tax History of the U.S.” - begins at 4:30 PM in the University Center’s Tennessee Room.Dr. Claudia Kramer is the Scott L.
