Commanders Training Camp: Prioritizing Defensive Turnovers

The Washington Commanders have entered their 2026 training camp with a primary defensive objective of increasing takeaways. Under the leadership of head coach Dan Quinn and new defensive coordinator Daronte Jones, the team is working to overcome a previous season where they recorded the second-fewest turnovers in the league. Coaches are integrating aggressive strategies and specific individual drills to ensure players prioritize stripping the ball and securing interceptions. This cultural shift was recently highlighted by veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas, who emphasized that providing the offense with more opportunities is essential for team success. Beyond individual statistics, the roster views these defensive plays as a way to support rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. By focusing on turnover margin, the organization hopes to improve field position and overall game control during the upcoming season.
