Send us Fan MailIf you’ve ever wondered why the “good news” sometimes sounds flat to people, Romans 7 gives a sharp answer: the law of God is what makes sin unmistakable. We open Romans 7:7-13 and follow Paul’s logic as he tackles a loaded question: if the law is connected to condemnation and death, does that make the law itself sinful? We say what Paul says: God forbid. The law is not the villain. It is the light that tells the truth about what’s really in us. We also connect this passage to the bigger Romans 7 flow: believers are delivered from the law through union with Christ, and that changes everything about assurance. Our salvation is not a fragile contract we keep alive with performance. Because Christ is risen and cannot die again, our life in him is permanent. That security is not an excuse to ignore holiness; it is the starting point for serving God in the newness of the Spirit rather than the oldness of the letter. Then we get practical about evangelism and preaching. If the law reveals sin, we should not rush people past God’s commandments to a quick slogan or a scripted prayer. We revisit the rich young ruler and watch how Jesus uses the law to expose coveting and heart-idolatry, proving that the real battleground is not only outward behavior but inward desire.
