Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind... but how do we prove that we love God? By loving our neighbors as ourselves. Andy continues in week 2 of the "Commands of Christ" sermon series.  “A familiarity with God can often lead to a casual stance with God. It is possible to know all about God without actually knowing God.” “Simply being familiar with God can lead to a casual stance with God. You can know what’s true while completely missing the application. Have you ever been there?” “Let every last ounce of who we are express our love for God. It should be a love that changes you. It should be the type of love that pulls you in, that compels you. It should be the type of love that causes you to see things differently, that causes you to want to know God, to see God, to be near to God, to be like God.” “Your will, your desire, and your emotions should all exist to show your love for God. With all of your soul, this is the real you, the spiritual you, the eternal you. This is the place where your hope is experienced, where your soul is shaped… this soul should love God.” “We will only love God to the degree that we know God… but we must not allow being familiar with God to give us a casual stance towards God.” Loving God with everything must go beyond simply saying that you love God. It must become something that you show, something that you prove. How can you prove that you love God? Love your neighbor as yourself. The clearest way that we can demonstrate that we love God with all of our heart, soul and mind is through our love for others… through the way that we care for others and serve others.
