Commentary | Pillars of the Professional Learning Community Lifestyle

from Impact of Educational Leadership Podcast · host Impact of Educational Leadership Talk Show

A Professional Learning Community, or PLC, is a special way for teachers to work together to help every student succeed. Instead of just focusing on what the teacher says in class, the whole school focuses on what the students are actually learning. To make this happen, schools use four main "pillars" to guide them. These pillars are like a roadmap that helps everyone stay on the same path, so no student gets left behind. The first pillar is the Mission, which explains why the school exists. The second is the Vision, which describes the amazing school they want to become in the future. The third pillar is Values, which are the promises teachers make to work hard and help one another. Finally, the fourth pillar is Goals, which are the specific targets used to check if students are growing and learning. By using these four pillars, teachers stop working alone and start working as a team to make sure everyone does their best.Hosted by Dr. Isaiah Drone III
