Commission renews hearing officer contract

The Box Elder County Commission approved a renewed contract Wednesday for administrative law judge services to handle certain appeals involving county employees and landuse decisions when called upon. An administrative law judge serves as an independent hearing officer, reviewing disputes such as employee disciplinary appeals and policy challenges and issuing findings or recommendations separate from county administration. Anne Hansen, chief civil deputy in the Box Elder County Attorney’s Office, said the county is renewing its agreement with attorney J. Richard Catten, who has previously served in the role.
