Community Health: A Tridemic Explained

from The Valley Today · host Janet Michael

Our conversation today about community health welcomed back Dr. Jeffrey Feit, Valley Health's Population & Community Health Officer (and my personal Dr. Fauci) to learn about the term tridemic and the effects it's having on our community. We talked about COVID variants, the flu, RSV, strep, and the common cold. Dr. Feit explained the different viruses that are currently plaguing (no pun intended) our area and talked about the importance of being observant and understanding your symptoms as they relate to a diagnosis. We talked about the value of testing, early treatment/diagnosis, and what precautions we should consider as we make our way into the holidays. We also discussed how important it is to have correct and valid information when making healthcare decisions. We also got a lesson in how excess mortality rates are calculated and why those numbers are important.
