Community Health: Valley Health MyChart / MyValleyHealth App

As part of our community health partnership with Valley Health, we talked today with Dr. Jeff Feit, Chief Population Health Officer / Chief Medical Information Officer for Valley Health along with Anna Kemp, a Marketing Manager for Valley Health. Dr. Feit and Anna discussed their recent implementation of Epic, a platform for electronic health records. The project involved hundreds of people and took 18 months to complete, going live on time and on budget. Anna explained that Epic includes a patient-accessible function, MyChart, which allows patients to track their health and records online. The benefits of the MyChart account were highlighted, including its ability to gather all health information in one place and the availability of proxy access. Anna also gave details for the MyValleyHealth mobile app, enabling easy login to your MyChart account, provider location finding, and appointment scheduling. Dr. Feit explained the "Care Everywhere" function, which allows for information transfer between various Epic systems. He also talked about "actionable findings" with the new system that can enhance patient care by synthesizing data points from a patient's chart and identify potential health issues.
