That old success symbol, the company car, is increasingly being parked as new research shows commuters who drive to work are more stressed and less productive. Clever companies are providing employees with alternative transport options and information sources to encourage them to take their hands off the wheel on the way to and from the workplace. Experts say commuting distance is not so much the issue as the ease of the journey. And part of the solution is convincing senior executives to abandon the traffic gridlock and walk the walk – or at least to cycle or take the bus to work.
