My grandfather would love this because my grandpa had an ice house, born and raised in the southern Hillsdale County Waldron School District. He had an ice house and I couldn’t help but think that some of these past years it hasn’t gotten that cold, but this year is a nice cold year and he could have really got cut those ice chunks out and had them ready for those who didn’t have refrigerators. But anyways, it’s good to be here. Some things I always want to know about a speaker, probably most of you know all this about me, but two things are the two most important decisions in my life. I was probably about seven, I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home and it was no doubt that I was a sinner and it was no doubt that Jesus loved me. So, when I was about seven, I came to a personal faith in Christ and then I was, probably I was in junior high, started praying, God I’d like a girlfriend, I’d like a pretty girlfriend, I’d like one that really loved Jesus. And in 1980 on our senior trip, Dorothy and I started holding hands and the rest is history. So, I’m blessed. And two, I was thinking it was about 36 years ago, did any of you ever get discouraged with churches or life or whatever? We came here to your church for a couple years and we’re members and we’re just blessed. Somebody, we’ve just been through some kind of discouraging things that somebody said, go to a good church that’s a little ways away and just sit in the back pew and be blessed. And that happened with us and we were blessed by you folks. So, it’s good to be here this morning, so thank you. Have you ever had some miserable food to eat? Some of you have, now we don’t, don’t tell us the restaurant, don’t edge your spouse saying you remember that recipe, but most of us have. I was trying to think if we had time we could share some of those experiences, but we won’t for a couple reasons. I was thinking probably mine, probably one of them goes back, oh, 55 years ago. So, I’m probably a ninth grader at camp and the cook had boiled celery with boiled sausage. My kitchen, maybe there was some salt, but that was it. I mean that still impacts me, you know. I mean I like celery and I like sausage, but anyways. So, but we all have a miserable food experience and then do ever get discouraged with leaders? Yeah, we do, you know. Whether it’s the manager at work, whether it’s the local township council, whether it’s the state government, whether it’s in Washington, you know, we get discouraged with leaders. And what do we often do? Complain, you know. Whether it’s a two-year-old complaining about the food or somebody that’s 92 complaining about the food or the leaders, sometimes we fall into the trap of complaining. I mean we’ve been blessed to have our grandkids with us for the past nine days and it’s been wonderful. But you know, even a two-year-old can say, I don’t like this or I don’t want this. And then the other day I was in the living room and I was just, Dorothy and I were at home and I was talking and she said, David, she said enough of that about complaining about some political leader. She’s speaking the truth to me. Yeah. So, this morning we want to be reminded about the importance in life’s journey of not being complainers. Whether that’s about food, whether that’s about leaders, or whatever the case, is we’re in the journey of life, we’ll do things that we won’t like, but not to be complainers, but in the journey of life, be shiners. Shining, looking to Jesus and being a light in this dark crooked world. So, open up your Bibles to Numbers 21. Okay, Numbers 21:4 through 9.
