El escalamiento del conflicto entre Donald Trump y Gustavo Petro, que nos tiene al borde de una de las peores crisis diplomáticas, tiene que ver con el fracaso de la lucha contra las drogas y de sus enfoques prohibicionistas y punitivos. Con la llegada de Gustavo Petro al poder, se pensó que el mandatario iba a retomar de nuevo los vientos de cambio que, en esa materia, había impulsado el gobierno de Juan Manuel Santos, que fue el primero en abrir la puerta para que se empezara a hablar de regulación, de reducción de daños y de salud pública. Sin embargo, eso no pasó. Aunque Petro formuló desde el inicio de su gobierno una nueva política de drogas, en realidad esta se quedó en el papel y, en cambio, ha sido un gobierno que ha seguido al pie de la letra la mayoría de los postulados de las políticas prohibicionistas que hoy vuelve a enarbolar Donald Trump.
