Concepts in Focus: The Unique and the Creative Nothing

In the latest edition of our Concepts in Focus series, our resident Stirner researcher Adam gives an overview of his conclusions so far regarding the meaning of two of Stirner's key notions; The Unique, and the Creative Nothing. Here, Adam draws upon his doctoral research into Stirner's work as well as his historical roots in Hegelianism, Hegel's Logic, and the Left-Hegelian circles of his time. As a result of this work, he articulates the Creative Nothing as a theory of nihilistic ontogenesis, the origin of Being from its relationship to nothingness, and describes the Unique as the fundamental moment of non-identity in every form of identification, as well as in every attempt in which dominant powers try to produced fixed and inescapable modes of subjectivation.
