Geographical Conditions: Where people live also affects civilization. Hot places like tropical regions have many diseases, which make people tired and less productive. They may focus only on finding food and having children, leaving little time for art or thinking. Rain is essential because water is more important than sunlight for life. Changing weather can either destroy cities or make some places rich and powerful. Fertile land, minerals, rivers for trade, and natural ports help civilizations grow. Economic Conditions: A stable way to earn and save money is important. Even if people have good values and some art, like the American Indians, they won’t become fully civilized if they only rely on hunting. Nomads like the Bedouins are clever and brave, but without a steady food supply, they cannot focus on art or luxury. Farming is the first step towards civilization. When people learn to grow food and store it, they have more time for building homes, temples, and schools. They also start making tools, raising animals, and building permanent homes. This stability allows people to pass their knowledge to the next generation.City Life and CivilizationWhile farming is the start of culture, civilization truly blossoms in cities. Civilization means a way of living that is polite and refined. In cities, money and knowledge come together. Factories and inventions make life more comfortable. Cities also bring people together to share ideas, making them think more creatively. Some people in cities focus on thinking, writing, and creating art. While civilization may start in a farmer’s hut, it truly flourishes in a city.Does Race Matter in Civilization?Civilization does not belong to any one race.
