Conference: 'It's a massive build-out program and we have to start today, not in 2025' - John Grimes from the Smart Energy Council
from Climate Conversations · host Robert McLean
John Grimes (pictured), the Smart Energy Council's Chief Executive, welcomed people to the June 22 Smart Energy Summit arguing that we need to start right now transitioning Australia to renewable energy. The newly elected independent Member for Goldstein, Zoe Daniel, chaired the opening session of the morning and that theme continued when Dr Monique Ryan, also elected as an independent, chaired the afternoon session. Dr Ryan defeated and replaced Australia's former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg in a contest for the Seat of Kooyong. Among those who spoke during the first-morning session were the Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change and Solar Homes, Lily D'Ambrosio, via video, and Greens Member for Brunswick, Dr Tim Read.
