This is a four-part panel discussion with Hambastegi group members. Shirin Ebadi, Hamed Esmailioun, Masih Alinejad, and Nazanin Bonyadi share their thoughts on the formation of the group, the drafting process of their Charter, and the need for a framework of cooperation amongst the opposition.The discussion is in Persian.Shirin Ebadi is a political activist and Nobel Laureate. Dr. Hamed Esmailioun is a social activist and author. Masih Alinejad is a journalist and a women’s rights activist. Nazanin Bonyadi is an actress and human rights activist. Moderated by Dr. Abbas Milani.Part of the conference "Dialogues on Iran's Transition to Secular Democracy" co-hosted by Stanford Iranian Studies, Gozar.org, and KAI on March 25-26, 2023 at Stanford University.With more than 30+ panel talks, 24 roundtables, 50+ speakers, and more than 100+ experts and civil society activists, the conference explored challenges and pathways of transitioning from the Islamic Republic regime in Iran to a secular democracy.
