Episode Description
Morning Mantra: “The quality of your relationships depends on how you respond to conflict within them.”
Conflict will always be a part of life and you should know how to resolve it in a productive way. Avoiding conflict creates more conflict.
To practice the process of conflict resolution, you must completely abandon the goal of getting people to do what you want, and have the goal be a mutual understanding of how each other feels instead.
Healthy adults talk about their problems and look for solutions. They don’t blame, they don’t avoid difficult conversations, or hide. This doesn’t always mean the solution is continuing the relationship, but it is important for you to be able to effectively resolve the conflict within it so you may let it go and live with peace in your heart if it does end.
Conflict is the beginning of consciousness. Whenever we become aware of our feelings and express them in a way they will be heard, we are becoming more self-aware. Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to deal with it.
