I loath confrontation. I run from it. In fact, I will have 5,000 conversations in my head before I ever actually confront someone with an issue that’s bothering me. This is how I found myself watching Lisa Gates’ LinkedIn Learning course all about how to have healthy confrontation at work! During our chat she shared that avoidance is quite common and gave step-by-step tips for how to kick off a hard conversation, how to speak up when find yourself being talked over in meetings and how to tackle a boss who says one thing (you’re getting a raise!) but then not delivering (no raise in sight!). Her go to’s for de-escalating conversations was exactly what I needed to hear about! If you need a kick in the butt to have a conversation you’ve been putting off this is the perfect episode for you.
