Confronting Heretics

Ordained minister, Dr. Dennis Hall discusses the heresies impacting contemporary churches and what our response should be toward those who are teaching and preaching these heresies and those who attend their churches and are therefore complicit in the spreading of heresy in the Christian faith. He explains that heresy is not when a believer is stumbling over theological mysteries like the Trinity, sanctification and justification. Heresy is when someone is intentionally leading churches and entire denominations away from the building blocks of Christian faith. Dr. Hall points to 2 Timothy 4:3 – “For the time would come when people would gather teachers to suit their own desires, turning away from the truth and toward myths.” He emphatically says, “that time is now!” The actions of Jesus, Paul, and John toward heretics is used to provide instruction about how we should be dealing with heretics today.
