Confusion, Mistaken Identity, and the Real Jesus // Luke 19:28-44

This morning we come to what the church has historically called “Palm Sunday” named after the palm branches which were laid down on the road before Jesus as He traveled from the Mount of Olives into the city of Jerusalem. It was a moment of intense excitement. But at the same time, it was an hour of devastating confusion. While Jesus was right in front of them, they failed to see who He really is. And they failed to see what He really came to do. What was the cause of this mistaken identity? What are the consequences? Who is Jesus? What did He come to do? How do we avoid falling into this?
