I'm not the only one, though. There are many others who are gifted that underachieve. Why?Because it's tempting to just become lazy and average. Think about it. At first, you're doing the best you can. Over time you realize that your best is more than enough to obtain excellence. So, you put in less effort overtime, and still manage to stay out on top. However, sometimes we overshoot it and become less than the top. I'm not sure about others but I know in some cases, including myself, we know our potential and know that if we applied ourselves fully, we'd be able to achieve greatness. But, we get lazy because we’re so used to not putting forth our all, so we go for the bare minimum. We hate the lifestyle, but after doing it for so long, it's a bitch to kill off. But it can also be a case of what interests them or not. For me, I despise geometry because it's so… easy. I hate easy tasks and I become bored. Boredom causes me to just not care and still maintain passing levels. However, for Japanese, I'm an A grade student, because I love the class. Do I put in a lot more effort? No, but I do pay attention a little more.Tl;dr boredom and not putting out all and still achieving more than most.
